Apply for Summer Research Funding

The mission of the IINSPIRE LSAMP program is to broaden the participation of underrepresented minorities* in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in the Midwest. The IINSPIRE LSAMP Program provides up to $3000 in summer research funding for students participating in early research opportunities. Participating in summer research makes students eligible for additional funding during the academic year ($3,000). The following eligibility criteria will be considered when reviewing applications:

  • United States citizen or Permanent Resident
  • College GPA of 2.7 or higher
  • Major in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline – check the eligible majors.

Underrepresented Minorities (URM) – The following racial and ethnic groups have been shown to be   underrepresented in STEM fields: Black or African American, Hispanic, Latino(a), American Indian or   Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander.

Application Deadlines: 

May 1st deadline to apply to ensure consideration. Early applications are encouraged and will be reviewed as they are received.

Rolling notification schedule pending availability of funds:

April 3: First round of offers 

April 17: Second round of offers

May 1: Third round of offers

May 15: Fourth round of offers
